Here’s the weekly refresher on our daring group of supers, last seen in Aeropolis. (Also, there are references to Celebrate! in this story, in case you want to refresh that story.)
He was pretty sure he couldn’t die a violent death, since his power will always reset him to just before. And he had already noticed that he couldn’t gain or lose muscle mass in the gym. Probably would also notice he skipped flu season, etc. So he had his suspicions.
Before this particular prompt, I was going to have the scientist trying to figure out his healing powers and tell him something along the lines that he was no longer aging. (I was researching telomeres, which I heard about in another story to sound all smart.)
But this allowed me to make the reveal a little more cozy as well as absolute. Cozy in the sense that Remember seems happy, has a place in the world, and has colleagues that understand him. Absolute because six months really isn’t enough time to definitively say someone isn’t aging.
For the rest, immortality is probably not in the cards, as I see it. There are a few superhero storylines where the heroes are actually gods or immortals in disguise (like the movie “Hancock”), which is a cool concept as well, but I don’t think I’m leaning that way.
I’m thinking I really do need to start fleshing out the rest of my Supers world, the characters are really speaking to me!
An infinite number of resets. I hadn’t thought about that at all.
I wonder how it will affect Reset, realizing that he is immortal… or maybe he always knew that.
Are all of these Supers immortal? Do they know?
